WHAT IS YERP?
Youth Employment Readiness Program (YERP) is a 25-week paid employment program offered with continuous intakes. YERP has been helping youth in the Durham Region create a personal plan for success and education and/or employment path since 2009. Young adults are guided through self-assessments, essential workplace readiness skills (such as time and task management, teamwork, interpersonal communication, conflict resolution, and more), and enhanced employment search activities. During the first 9 weeks, participants receive a training allowance based on 30 hours a week at minimum wage, followed by a 16-week work experience placement, where employers receive $7200 in reimbursed wages. Funded in part by the Government of Canada.
The mission of our team is to support young adults - ready to embark on a journey of self-discovery and career development. We work collaboratively with youth, along with relative resource personelle to provide development opportunities; promote clear thinking; engage in open and inclusive dialogue; actively listen, reflect, and inquire; promote positive change, and facilitate the development of individual leadership and planning skills.
